Familiy ski area of Gapfohl/Laterns The diversified ski area of Gapfohl has been a meeting point for winter sport fans for almost a hundred years. Today, the 4-passenger chair lift and modern 6-passenger chair lift as well as the 4 T-bar lifts bring you to the “Sun terrace of Western Austria”, as everyone calls this popular ski area. Eleven downhill runs with a total of 27 km offer everyone – from beginner to expert –“his run” and thus, great fun. And the mountain that provides guests with the perfect landscape for an alpine hike in summer, as well as offering tour go-ers their destination in winter, is the 2004 meter high Freschen, and considered to be the most popular tour go-er destination. Laterns is known far and wide for its attractive landscape and above all for its children friendly attitude. The best example of this is Kinderland. Here, the small and the smallest (from 3 years of age) are supervised – free of charge, while parents can pursuit their sports. The 3 km long, perfectly prepared, nature toboggan run is also a hit with kids and a fun sporty alternative for adults. Laterns has always been known as a “snow pocket” –nevertheless, in order to be completely free of Petrus’s whims, a large snow making facility has been installed so that all main downhill runs can be artificially snow covered, letting nothing stand in the way of snow and winter fun from the end of November through to Easter. |
